Walmart about to discontinue support for DRM music

Both Slashdot and Engadget have articles about Walmart, which is about to discontinue any support for legally purchased DRM music.
I wonder when Apple are about to discontinue their iTunes line of products (and they are pretty good in dicontinuing products). As soon as they do, all your legally purchased music might be less useful as the output of /dev/urandom, and all of your cool iPods are nothing else than useless hardware dongles.
That said, I find the price of a single piece of music even more expensive. Remember: What you get is not the right to listen this piece of music at any time with any device or software you like. It’s always Apple who decide if you are allowed to listen to your music – or even not.
