Sharing knowledge, whenever possible by face-to-face communication, is an important aspect of Scrum. The Scrum meetings consume a significant amount of time, as we understood the importance of direct communication. Here’s a citation of the Manifesto for Agile Software Development:

There are several web resources for the Oder-Neisse-Cycleway. (Oder-Neiße-Radweg in german) Here’s the variant from Zittau to Wolgast I have chosen as a GPX track.
The file is purged, so it just contains the route. It does not contain deviations or markers to viewpoints, museums etc. Its length is about 547 kilometers, and it contains 6014 trackpoints, so it should fit into the memory of current Garmin devices easily.
Nachdem ich in den letzten Jahren einige (zumeist englischsprachige) Bücher und sonstige Quellen zum Thema Scrum gelesen habe, lese ich derzeit das Buch »Scrum – Produkte zuverlässig und schnell entwickeln« von Boris Gloger1. Es ist das bisher beste, weil es den aktuellen Stand hochkomprimiert auf dem Silbertablett präsentiert. Überraschenderweise liegt es in deutscher Sprache vor – was mich üblicherweise eher abschreckt, weil deutschsprachige Fachbücher sich oft mit Themen beschäftigen, die im angelsächsischen Sprachraum fast schon wieder “Schnee von gestern” sind. Im vorliegenden Falle ist es erfreulicherweise eher umgekehrt :) .
Vielleicht haben wir gestern den letzten hochsommerlich warmen Tag des Jahres 2011 genossen – zumindest soll es die nächsten Tage weiterhin kühl bleiben. Wir haben den Tag genutzt, sind um 6:40 in die Bahn gestiegen und haben den Stromberg-Murrtal-Radweg in Ost-West-Richtung bereist, zumal er in Openstreetmap noch nicht vollständig erfasst ist :) .
Diese Hochrippe wird es, nachdem beide Seiten die Pfanne kurz gesehen haben, eine Stunde lang im Ofen bei 50°C schön kuschelig warm haben, bevor abschließend nochmal fünf Minuten lang bei 100°C nachgeholfen wird.
Ich bin gespannt, wie das schmeckt. Bei Schwein und Lamm bin ich ein großer Freund des Niedrigtemperaturgarens, beim Rind bisher nicht. Vielleicht ändert sich das heute – schleck :) .

I’ve never been good in creating artistic drawings, but as Lyssa writes »You can see from the illustration that you need not be a good artist to do this.«, here’s an adaption. Los Cuatros Del Son
Wer »Sechzehntel, absehbare Kadenzen und Küchenmädchenterzen« liebt, dürfte bei »Los Cuatros Del Son« aus Havanna voll auf seine Kosten kommen. Als Europäer sucht man gelegentlich verzweifelt nach der “eins”, die oft genug »gut versteckt« daherkommt. Joe Zawinul behauptete: »Ich höre einen europäischen Drummer aus 10.000 anderen heraus.« und »Paco Sery is the best drummer in the world.«.
An einem Abend wie gestern wünsche ich mir wiedermal, ich wäre in Westafrika oder der Karibik aufgewachsen und hätte die Polyrhythmik, die ich nur theoretisch verstanden habe, in die Wiege gelegt bekommen. Denn während ich melodisch, harmonisch und klanglich beim Musikhören recht gut mitbekomme, was gerade stattfindet, bin ich mit den luftig-leichten Rhythmusteppichen, die beispielsweise die Musik von Salif Keïta kennzeichnen, meist überfordert.
Zeit, das Metronom auszupacken :) .
Scott Trail Boa
We intend to completely map a cycleway of about 160 kilometers for openstreetmap.org as a single day trip. That’s quite a distance, as the usual trips are no longer than 80 kilometers. Since a german magazine reviewed a couple of cycling shoes (available online as a portable document format download), I’m lurking around. Finally I found the Scott Trail Boa online at the Amazon marketplace. I had good luck, as the dealer offered the size I needed for 90€ “only”.

50 years ago, the Berlin Wall was installed, completely encircling the part of Berlin which was not controlled by the Soviet Union. Together with the Inner German border, it was mainly built to stop inhabitants of the German Democratic Republic emigrating to Western Germany. It withstood from August 13, 1961 to November 9, 1989, effectively imprisoning the eastern citizens for 28 years.
Recently I met two young girls in Eastern Germany discussing whether it was better to study in Leipzig or Gießen. Despite the problems we encountered, I’m glad the reunion of Germany was a huge success.

Je mehr ich über das Coaching von agilen Entwicklerteams lese, desto mehr zweifle ich daran, dass alle dort vorgestellten Mehoden ein Team tatsächlich performanter machen (Davies&Sedley, Adkins, Derby&Larsen). Mag sein, dass das auf angelsächsische Verhältnisse passt. Aber lässt sich das ohne weiteres auf Europa (und weitere Kontinente) übertragen?

Waldorf microQ synthesizer
The microQ is a cool device, and you get a lot of synthesizer for the money. However, it didn’t provide the kind of sound I was after.
The Microwave (I) was the first real synth I ever owned. I still can program it almost blindly. It is one of the most punchy synths I ever played. And it has an individual voice.

Today I sold both synths, breaking the tradition of playing Waldorf machines. Hope both buyers will have fun with them.
