Pictures of the black forest – summer edition

Flagellants

Flagellants

Being at the black forest on a sunny day in July allowed to take some nice pictures. Unfortunately, I got trapped by a habit of myself. I usually keep images on the camera until I did the next backup of my hard drives. This time I left all my crete holiday pics on it, so the camera complained about the lack of disk space after taking a couple of pictures. It was not possible to delete the old pictures, as I renamed the default folder to something like DCIM-Backup, and the camera was not capable to access it. Mea maxissima culpa.

But it was possible to delete some of the recently taken images, so at least there was some space left for the following pics. I hope you enjoy. All have been taken in the area east of Ruhestein:

There are a lot of digitalis blooming these days. I have no clue if this is the favoured flower of hackers, but AFAIR hackers do not appreciate flowers at all. Or the other way around: They appreciate it, as long as they do not need to leave the computer to feed them. Maybe I should invent a USB powered flower ;-) :

Your mom should have teached you not to eat woodland strawberries, to avoid cestoda. What a pity:

If you grow older, maybe you want to be bearded like Getafix. I have no clue if Get-a-Fix used some GPS gadgets, but here’s what may have inspired his inventors:

Have you ever seen fungi that look like matches? Me not. Interesting design. Unfortunately, I didn’t set the focus right. See the topmost image of this posting :) :

This might be some kind of Auchenorrhyncha (a name I do not know how to pronounce and I will forget for sure within 3 minutes). A more common name might be Spittlebug:

Here’s an insect that looks like a wasp, but I’m not sure if it is one:

Here are some water snails and a Water Strider. There were also some Tadpoles, but they escaped and the mirroring of the water prevented to take a usable picture:

And finally, here’s a truely ferocious animal. Consider you were a lettuce leaf, and you saw this monster approaching!

More sincerely, I wonder if the dark black colour is natural or a form of melanism:

That’s it for today. I have some further images, but I’ll better save some for a further post :) .
